I like to give, it’s fun, it’s fulfilling, and that realization is fascinating to me. When I explore why I like to give, I get all excited and unusually giddy. You see, for the most part, I see myself as a self-focused, narcissistic creature. But I like to give. What is that all about? Where is that coming from? It is like something else is going on in and through me that somehow supersedes the narcissism. Really? What is the source of this giving?
The source is Jesus. As I look to Scripture, the explanation comes from what Paul talks about in Titus 3:5-8, the regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that we may be careful to engage in good deeds. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for putting a heart of kindness, care, and giving inside me, a desire to serve and care for others over myself.
I love You God. I trust You God. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Thank You God.
